About me:
For the past 57 years now, starting at the age of 9, I have enjoyed the passion of fly fishing and fly tying. Casting a fly rod has taken me to locations such as Belize, Alaska, the Florida Keys, the Pacific Northwest, Montana, Maine, New Brunswick, and also here in my home waters of Pennsylvania where the spring creeks are some of the most challenging fisheries in the world.
Over the past 58 years that I have been tying, I have transitioned to the art of creating the classic Atlantic Salmon patterns. I enjoy tying these patterns in the freestyle method of which no particular recipe or pattern is followed. I create "themed" style patterns that reflect a certain moment in time or follow the feeling one gets from a particular image. This style of tying is demanding in that once the image is selected or the idea is formed, then the preparation begins. This can involve pencil drawings that reflect the design of the fly along with the selection of the correct materials to be used.
I particularly enjoy designing and tying patterns for our military veterans. Over the years I have presented my work to individuals and families who have either served in the military or have loved ones who have bravely served in a far away land. These individuals are our heroes and it has truly been a privilege of mine to honor those who continue their sacrifice that keeps us free to do the things we love to do. In addition to this, I have had the honor of completing projects that have benefited organizations such as Project Healing Waters, Casting For Recovery, the American Cancer Society, National Wild Turkey Federation, and the Global Hunger Relief Fund.
I sincerely hope you enjoy this site and if you have any questions or would like discuss a particular idea or thought you may have that involves my passion of tying - please do not hesitate to contact me.
